Low Vision Service

Eye Associates now offers Low Vision Service in their clinic. Low vision denotes a level of vision that is 20/50 or worse and cannot be corrected with conventional glasses. It is not the same as blindness. Low vision interferes with daily visual activities such as reading and driving performance.

Mostly elderly are affected by low vision. Common causes include macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma.

At Eye Associates, Dr. Brienen executes the low vision evaluations. This appointment will allow him to determine if he can help you effectively use your remaining vision with the help of magnifying aids and other devices. The purpose of these evaluations is not to restore your loss of vision; however, he may be able to prescribe some devices that will help you with certain tasks. We can also provide you with a list of local resources that may be of help.

Our low vision products come from Eschenbach Optik (www.eschenbach.com), which today is recognized throughout the world as a specialist in technical optics and leading supplier of a comprehensive range of low vision aids. We will carry the most complete line of products from hand-held and stand magnifiers to spectacles, video magnifiers and wrap-around absorptive filters. If you’re looking for help to perform a specific visual task, we may have the product to fill your needs.

Call today for your low vision evaluation.
