Why Choose Us?

Front Desk
Eye Associates of Tallahassee, P.A. is committed to employee education.  We have ten employees certified by the National Joint Commission of Allied Health Personnel.  www.jcahpo.org  (6 Certified Ophthalmic Assistants, 4 Certified Ophthalmic Technicians, 1 Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist & 1 Registered Ophthalmic Ultrasound Biometrist)

Certification represents a voluntary approval process by which the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) objectively recognizes the advanced knowledge & clinical skills of Ophthalmic Medical Personnel.

Certification requires completion of a computer exam, computer-simulated skill evaluation and hands on performance test.  Employers and peers recognize the JCAHPO credentials as validation of an individual's knowledge and experience in, and commitment to the ophthalmic allied health profession and quality patient care.

Staff Spotlight

Michelle Willis

Michelle Willis

The past eight years I have had the privilege of working as the clinical coordinator for Eye Associates of Tallahassee. As clinical coordinator, I am allowed to mentor, develop and help place employees in various roles of the clinical or technical aspect of our clinic. I like to teach, have over thirty years of experience in ophthalmology and I have served on the ATPO (Association of Technical Personnel in Ophthalmology) board and so, I am very familiar with the industry standards needed to be a certified ophthalmic assistant, technician, technologist, or ophthalmic scrub technician in the operating room. I am proud to work at an organization that places value on an employee being certified or credentialed in their work arena.

As of August 1st 2010 I became the new president for ATPO for a one year term. I have worked with JCAHPO (Joint Commission for Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology) to help develop educational products. I am a national skill evaluator for the COT level skill exam and as a practical examiner for the COMT exam. JCAHPO is an international organization that sets up standards for testing and credentialing of ophthalmic personnel.

I moved here from North Carolina and have worked both in a retina practice for many years as well as several multi-specialty eye practices. This cumulative work experience gave me lots of good overall exposure in the eye care industry from scrubbing in ophthalmic surgery, to photography with various retinal eye diseases, to assisting with many types of eye care specialists, and to actually participate in some research as well.

At Eye Associates of Tallahassee, we try to treat you with dignity and respect and the caring that you would expect your family to have. We want you to feel like family. And, we want to provide you with a high quality and caring experience.
